EDITING SAMPLES
The following editing samples showcase a variety of writing backgrounds. One sample was first written by a student whose first language is not English. Another sample is from a high school student. I chose to edit pieces from these individuals to convey my editing ability across genres.
Airbnb email

In the following example, a high school student at Asia Pacific International School in Oahu, Hawaii, composed an email to the CEO of a well-known hotel in Waikiki. I corrected grammar, punctuation, and flow to reduce redundancy and increase professionalism. I also assisted with several of the questions, choosing the wording.

Pain + Peace

My favorite styles of writing to edit are creative pieces. The following is a short story written by a high schooler, with my corrections and suggestions in red.
Polynesian cultural center digital tour script

One of my responsibilities as a marketing intern was revising a tour guide company's script for a digital tour ending at the Polynesian Cultural Center. I was primarily in charge of editing the text in black and choosing wording to best promote the attraction. Marks in green were already approved and red marks are the changes I made. Opens into a Word document and may only show on a Mac.
Kula Manu (2019) copyright page

After being published in Kula Manu (2018) I was excited to read the following year's pieces. I was immediately struck by the number of basic typos and sloppy errors I discovered. The example below is what the original looks like, with my corrections available in the viewing tab.
BYU-H Management Society Website homepage

In addition to creative writing, I also edit with a professional purpose. The website of the student chapter of the BYU Management Society at Brigham Young University--Hawaii needed a rework of its home page. Click below to the see the current page and beneath it my rewritten piece.
